Tell us how I could make the product more useful to you.
Improve tempo trainer
Let users save their own tempo maps and select them from the session start dialog.
Android version
Bring EarDrum to Android, with the same core drum practice tools as iOS. I’m close, but still tuning audio latency so practice feedback feels tight and reliable.
Exercise History
A way to see see the history of a specific song or exercise. One option could be a scatter graph of BPM over time, with colors indicating accuracy score, but any way to track the progress over time would work.
Gap click
Add gap-click practice mode, where the metronome drops out for short sections to help improve internal timing and groove stability.
Practice session recording
Record practice sessions inside EarDrum so drummers can listen back to their performance, and save to track progress over time.
Cloud Sync
Sync songs, exercises, history, stats and settings across devices, making it easier to keep your library available wherever you practice.
Import exercises from PDF
Upload drum notation PDFs from the Files app and convert them into playable EarDrum exercises for practice, playback, and performance tracking.
Songs cover art
Add support for cover album art, making song listings feel more complete and easier to recognize in the library.
MP3 backing tracks
Let users add MP3 backing tracks to MIDI songs for a more enjoyable play-along experience. It should also be possible to adjust sync offset.
RUDIMENTS FOR DAYS!
Rudiments are the fundamentals of drumming. Would be great to see a library of them added.
Configurable practice length in bars
Let users set practice session length by number of bars instead of minutes.
Playlists (practice routines)
Ability to create playlists for Exercises. So it runs through them sequentially or even randomly. Same could be useful for MIDI songs
Improved landscape notation layout
Improve the notation view in landscape mode, since EarDrum is currently designed mainly around portrait use. This would make reading and practicing from notation more comfortable on wider iPad screens, and make better use of horizontal space.
Folders
A great feature would be to have the option to create folders in the Songs or Exercises otherwise I can see the list being really large to scroll through.
MIDI remote control
Control EarDrum with a MIDI device, so you can start, stop, restart (?) practices without reaching for your iPhone or iPad.
Full acoustic drum set support
Detect and classify hits across a full acoustic kit using FFT-based audio analysis, so EarDrum can support real drum practice beyond practice pads.
Microphone support for macOS
Use your Mac’s built-in or connected microphone to detect acoustic drum hits, bringing EarDrum’s practice tracking and feedback to macOS.
Practice data CSV export
Export practice session data as CSV for deeper analysis outside EarDrum. This would let users track trends over time in spreadsheets, AI tools, or other analysis workflows, using structured data from their practice history.
Learn by ear courses
Add guided “learn by ear” courses for grooves, fills, and songs, helping drummers build listening skills, recognize patterns, and play more confidently without relying only on notation.
